July 2005 Kids Garden News

Gardens bring nature into our backyards so we can appreciate its wonder without experiencing the dangers of the wild. We love our gardens because they feed our bodies and renew our spirits. This month we explore the benefits of gardening (especially the benefits to youth) and why everyone needs a green retreat. For individuals with challenged mobility, gardening opportunities may at first appear limited, but as you'll see, there are many ways to create a garden that's accessible to everyone!

Also in this issue, read about the 2005 Mantis Awards, including a special article about Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, AL, a Mantis Award winner with a successful accessible youth garden. Finally, be sure to check out the Plant of the Month, Resources, and News Items!

Please e-mail our editor with your questions or suggestions. We'd love to hear from you!
