Second National Farm to Cafeteria Conference
June 16-18, 2005 - Gambier, OH
Farm to School programs are popping up all over the country, connecting schools with local farms with the objectives of serving healthy meals in school cafeterias, improving student nutrition, providing health and nutrition education opportunities that will last a lifetime, and supporting local small farmers. Join others at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH to network, develop practical strategies, and celebrate successes in the Farm to School movement. National Ag in the Classroom Conference
June 8-11, 2005 - Indianapolis, IN
Ag in the Classroom invites educators of all grades and subjects to attend this year's national conference in Indianapolis. Explore agriculture Indiana-style, experience hands-on and mini workshops, a make-and-take fair, and the special ag-focused teacher store. Hotel accommodations are at the Westin Indianapolis. 2005 National Children & Youth Garden Symposium: Making Connections
July 28-30, 2005 - Atlanta, GA
Emory University and Atlanta is the home base for the 13th Annual National Children & Youth Garden Symposium. At this annual conference sponsored by the American Horticultural Society, you'll discover the importance of connecting kids to plants as you enjoy the flora and programs of the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Wonderland Gardens, hosts of the 2005 Symposium. Come gather the tools to become more effective in bringing kids and plants together, and discover ways to share the bountiful opportunities to teach in the garden. Community Food Security Coalition's Annual Meeting
October 5-9 - Atlanta, GA
Once again, Building Local Agricultural Systems Today (BLAST) will be arranging a youth delegation to the Community Food Security Coalition's Annual Meeting. Because the conference falls so close to the beginning of the school year, the application process will be starting soon. Organic School Garden Awards
Teams of students and teachers submit an essay and poster that express how their school garden improves students' health and the health of the Earth. Three winning schools will receive cash prizes of $250, $500, and $1,000. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2005.
