Nominate Your School for a Learning Garden Contest
ScottsMiracle-Gro and Keep America Beautiful
will award one winning class a "Learning Garden" for their school.
In addition, 15 First Prize Winners and 30 Second Prize Winners will receive
smaller classroom prizes.
Nominations
Students: Write a 200-word essay describing
what green space means to you and how you would use a learning garden.
Mail entries to:
Scotts 30 Days of Green Contest
P.O. Box 1702
Golden, CO 80402-1702
Entries must be postmarked by April 23, 2007 and received by April 30, 2007.
Limit of one request per outer mailing envelope.
Limit two entries per class. If more than two entries are submitted from a
class, only the first two entries received will be considered and all others
will be disqualified from the Contest.
Teachers:
Choose the top essay and submit it on behalf of the class, along with
the printed and completed Entry
Form.
Include the following:
1. Up to five (5) photographs
of the class completing one of the "30 Days of Green" calendar
activities OR a drawing of your ideal Learning Garden, AND
2. A photograph of the future
site
of the
Learning Garden.
Schedule
Students should begin their essays on April 4 and 5 to give ample time for
both composing and choosing up to two essays to be submitted. Each essay must
be submitted as a separate entry with its own photo(s) or drawing and a photo
of the proposed Learning Garden site. We recommend assigning the essay as a
homework assignment to engage the parents in the
contest.
Contest deadline
is Monday, April 23. All nominations to be postmarked by the deadline date.

To be eligible for an award, the following criteria must be met:
1. At least 500 sq. feet shall be available to implement the learning

the year, including when school is not in session.
