Mountains as Sacred Places

There are many reasons why certain mountains are considered sacred. Some religious groups believe that their God lives on a specific mountain while others believe that the mountain itself is God because it can kill with avalanches or rockfalls and bless with life-giving rain. Still others believe mountains provide an earthly connection between themselves and the Gods.
