Welcome
to Making Connections Through Gardening: Nicaragua. In
1999, in cooperation with TechnoServe, the National Gardening
Association established 46 school-based Ambassador Clubs throughout
the United States and Nicaragua. Students from the Ambassador
Clubs interacted with one another as email pen pals and via
an electronic discussion board. The goal of the project was
to increase American students' understanding of agriculture
and gardening in developing countries and the effect that Hurricane
Mitch had on the people of rural Nicaragua.
