The Grandchildren of Helene and Mark Eisner will sponsor 11 schools in Midwestern states through the National Gardening Association's Adopt a School Garden® program in 2010.
Awarded garden programs must be implemented by July 31, 2010. Recipients must submit a final report by August 15, 2010 summarizing program accomplishments and impacts.
Who is eligible to apply: Elementary, middle, and high schools serving low- to middle-income students located in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are eligible. Educators should be planning to use the garden to teach students life skills, reinforce academics, develop environmental stewardship, and encourage students to make positive choices for themselves and the planet. Both established and start-up garden programs are encouraged to apply.
Previous grant winners who wish to reapply may do so, but must wait one year (e.g., if you won in 2009, you may apply again in 2011) and have significantly expanded their garden programs.
What the award includes: Winners will receive $1,000 in materials and funding to lay the foundation for their garden program.
Submission process: Applications are due by February 12, 2010.
This grant is closed for the 2010 cycle.
Award Fulfillment: We will notify you about the status of your application by March 12, 2010.
No purchase necessary. Purchase of a product does not improve your chances of receiving an award.
