The Beetles?

Your students may refer to all insects as bugs. However, students of entomology-the study of insects-apply the word bug only to "true" bugs, including stink bugs, soldier bugs, and tarnished plant bugs. Beetles are not bugs but, having six legs, they are insects. Spiders are neither bugs nor insects-these eight-legged (and eight-eyed) creatures are arachnids, more closely related to scorpions than to ladybugs.
