Plant growth regulators Like animals, plants have mechanisms to control growth. In animals, hormones act as chemical messengers that move through the organism and initiate or stop various processes. For example, insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar.Plants, too, have chemical messengers. Although they are sometimes referred to as plant hormones, most botanists refer to them as plant growth regulators. Let's begin by looking at plant responses to various stimuli. |
